Just like humans, not all dogs learn the same way. We pride ourselves on using a LIMA based training approach. This means that of all the training techniques we know, we will use the Least Invasive and Minimally Aversive method required to help your dog learn.
Most dogs will learn best utilizing Positive Reinforcement. This does mean we utilize treats and food rewards in our training. We don’t expect you to be a PEZ dispenser for your dog, but we will help you understand WHY we use treats the way we do. And no, we won’t use treats for your dogs entire life.
We approach most of our behavioral work from a conditioning standpoint, which means we condition a response from your dog. Over time, the conditioned response will become more engrained in your dogs daily life and will be easier for your dog to give.
This means we will work with your dog to assess the issues at hand and to help start the learning/conditioning process, but we will also give you homework to continue the process with your dog. We are more than happy to start the process and give you support along the way, but we strongly believe it is your job as a dog owner to continue the work.
We aren’t magicians. We can’t “fix” your dog. But we can give you the tools to work with your dog and help them tackle whatever life throws at them.

PLEASE keep an eye on the weather forecast for the day you are selecting a private lesson. We are creeping into fall and winter and Mother Nature can be quite nasty during these seasons.
If the temperature is below 35°F, it is raining, very windy, or snowing, and you decide to schedule a private lesson, please have a covered area where we can work (or at least take breaks) with heat. If not for the humans - then for the dogs.
If that is not a possibility for your lesson, please let me know and we can reschedule to a different day.
